Henri needs help......

Hi Folks,
As some of you know, Henri has been ill with an unknown GI problem for a few months. We have run many tests, ruling out numerous ailments. We have not found the cause of his stomach problems. With each episode, the symptoms come on more quickly and are more severe. The latest, episode started with vomiting on Sunday and has progressed to no eating or drinking. He is on anti-nausea meds, stomach coating agents, Prilosec, etc.....but is uncomfortable.Today, we started pain meds and I am trying to keep him hydrated by springing water into his mouth. His internal medicine vet, Dr Beth Herman, would like to do an endoscopy to see what is happening in his stomach. Henri is an unusual dog, as you all know, and nothing about his presentation this time is straight forward. He could have some type of rare infection (fungal, yeast, bacterial??), inflammatory bowel disease of the stomach, or cancer. Hard to believe its already been a week since Haley delivered her puppy. She is doing very well crawling around the box and sleeping alot as she is the only puppy she receives all the milk which could make anyone sleepy!

Mary has been waiting over a year for Lilly and will be going to live with Sir Lancelot, A Norwich Terrier puppy I placed with the Seifert family a number of years ago. Lilly will really add some livelyness to the household as she is the same breeding that produced my champion Sara.

Had to send Zoe outside to get this special picture.... The girl has her head over the top of the boy and they are very healthy and happy. Gaining weight like crazy as the they literally have to be removed from moms milk to be weighed and Zoe is VERY unhappy about that. She curls around them when I reach for them, good momma!

Zoes puppies are born!

Champion Zoe had her 2 puppies today, a boy and a girl. There was originally thought to be 4 puppies but a mistake was made reading the xray and one puppy did not make it sadley enough.... Both the puppies are doing wery well and have taken to Zoe with vigor! The girl is 7.2 and the boy is 7.6oz, they are both red in color, like Zoe.

As was Haley's last famous puppy Ch. White Diamonds Sweet Sara, number 1 owner breeder handled Westie in the Nation for 2010 this delivery was also a single female puppy by way of C-section VERY early this morning. I was ecstatic to go back to the emergency clinic to find out the puppy survived and both Haley and baby were doing well.

Once I placed Haley back in her surroundings it was business as usual. Haley circled the puppy to let me know she was hers and I was not to interfere but just long enough to make sure her puppy was nursing properly.

Congrat's to Haley and Hammish!

Some may not know I had a mini wire dachshund years ago by the name Jazzie, who is retired in Idaho. She became a champion and had two litters of puppies one of which also became a champion owned by Dr. Mike Peterson in Oregon.

It's Wendell's 5th birthday today, how time flys! He is going to have steak
tonight. What a loveable guy he has been. I know my life would've been empty
without him.

This last weekend was the biggest victory for Dash and his owner Britt Litchford (not pictures), Elaine Jong and Lee Little, I was happy to be apart of it and want to thank all of them and Karen Whalen for her undying support as without this group we would never have gotten to where we are today.

There were 29 champion Norwich Terriers entered at the Eukanuba Invitational in Orlando, all but two were shown. The group was huge, so big we were given one of the bigger rings in the facility for Sunday's show. The circle of compeditors lined up one and a half times around the inside of the ring, I have never seen this many Norwich in one place much less ALL AKC CONFORMATION CHAMPIONS. I knew we had a very good chance at winning as we had done very well under this judge in Portland Oregon with a breed win over 5 other champions.

As I recall what actually happened seemed to go by so fast it seemed like a dream. We were pulled out three different times for a "second look" during the competition which ultimatly resulted in a very prestigious Award of Excellence which there were only five of and we received the second. Elaine and Lee were delighted with the results.

Hi Chris
It's becoming a really challenge to get Noah looking like I want. I now have two Schnauzers
in season and Noah is still thinking the Westie's are looking good! So, I need to wait at least one
more week to do a good grooming job on him. Considering all the girls are in my grooming room where my
doggie bath tub, table etc. are located.

Noah is doing a lot of pouting lately and will get underneath the crate pads and carry them
around on his back. He is such a character!

Our two beautiful westies we purchased from you are now 8 years old. They are the love of our lives. We are stopped on our walks many, many times just for people to admire them. Mr. G for the First Time

Let me tell you about what could me the most important moment of my life. It all started with three people waiting on a street corner. My dad was in Washington retreiving our new family member. We were getting a “West Highland Terrier,” Westie for short. Me, my mom and my sister were waiting and waiting and waiting. I don’t like waiting. ‘When is Daddy coming?” I said. “Soon.” My mom said. “But Mom!” I said. “Be patient.” Mom said. “Uhh!”
We stopped talking. We waited a little while and then saw my dad’s car! We saw a little white shape in the car. I felt so excited! When my dad pulled up, he opened the door and there was a small white dog with pointy ears.
We loved him so much! He was nervous at first, but he got used to us. He is the guard dog of the neighborhood! Mr. G. has the ego of a movie star! He is a “ladies man” and we love it. I realized our lives would never be the same.

Well, after some thought, Geoff and I decided to adopt another boy so that Teddy would have a playmate. Also, because we just love our dogs! Sunny is getting older and is not much in the mood for play, so meet
Bo. We just got him a few days ago from Ma-ya Norwich terriers in Bellefontaine, OH. He is a beauty and they are all getting along great. Sunny mostly prefers to sit on the sidelines but all is well.

This is the woman that makes everything at White Diamond Terriers work when I am on the road...

Stephanie has been my pet sitter for some time now and without her I could do absolutly nothing. Stepanie takes WONDERFUL care of of the kids at White Diamond while I am gone for every reason. Weither she gets good notice, poor or short notice Stephanie has always been able to work her life around caring for my kids. She isn't just a pet sitter either, she takes the time to play with my kids, makes sure they have what they need and keep them all strait, which is no easy task.

Recently Stephanie's car decided it was going to retire unexpectedly so there was no other choice but for us to purchase a car for her as she is such an important part of White Diamond Terriers!

Congratulation Stephanie and thank you for everything and every moment you spend with us at White Diamond Terriers!

A time to DRAG RACE!

Yep! that's my silver Mustang convertible I have been well... have had someone working on for about 6 months, now it is time to DRAG RACE! As you see it its been converted from a stock everyday convertible into an instrument of terror. The car is now been wickedly supercharged to the point of 650HP with 4:10 rear gears to make it faster from a stop along with a few other goodies and a radical computer tune making it an 11 second quarter mile semi controllable drag racer but still street legal. Sorry I didn't get better pictures but someone had to drive, well hold on for dear life anyway!

I had only been to the drag races once before in my life but as a fan of it on TV I thought, I can do that! Here is my story from last weekend...

It was pretty scarry as everyone involved assumes you know exactly what your doing....

I rolled up at exactly 1pm asking the person at the gate if it was too late to run as I just happen to have had other business in town and semi close to the raceway, they made a call and handed me an inspection card... "What's this I am thinking". She asked if I was a 14 seconds and over car?... Heck, I didn't know but I was smart enough to know 14 seconds and under was $50 to enter as opposed to $30 for 14 seconds and over so I paid $30! She said drive around and find the inspector... ok. I drove around and called my friend Stephen who flagged me down toward the end of the strip. He was still putting slicks on his Duster and then had issues with his transmission brake so he needed more time to work on his car before he could race. He didn't know at what point I needed a helmet so he handed me his in haste to get back to his car. In the mean time I asked him who the inspector was. Stephen pointed him out as he was the greasy looking, balding pony tailed auto mechanic with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth trying to replace a power steering pump across the way. I showed him my card and he said fill it out, so I did. After that he glanced at my car, said "wow, nice car, sure you wanna race that? I said oh ya! He quickly signed my car without "inspecting" anything.

OK... without looking like a total idiot I drove toward the lines of cars then asked someone where I should line up. Each person I spoke to was very helpful and no one laughed at me. In minutes I found myself being waved forward onto the track. I had my window down and the guy at the line told me to roll it up. My heart was pounding as I tried to do a burn out but my brakes would not let me as I had had no practice... I pulled up to the line and followed a friends directions mashing the gas pedal to the floor on the last yellow before the green light. My reaction time was .3 seconds and 12.3 seconds at 114mph, for my first drag race I was told I did exceptionally well. Though I did spin the tires a little it turned out to be my best run of the day as I lined up to make another pass. I was waiting in line again as I thought I could make a third pass, I had no idea I was waiting to race someone when a guy said "where is your break out time"? I had to idea what he was talking about so he explained it to me and told me a number to write on my windshield which gave me a goal time to be as close as possible without going under. It was hot, I was racing a pickup with a similar time on there windshield... I spun the tires for what seemed to be half way down the track after I took off and was heading for the wall so I let off and finished the pass with a 14 second run. My mechanic told me after he tuned my car it should be 650HP and 11 second quarter mile if you can get traction, no I know what he meant now.. Need traction.

My friend Stephen trans brake was still broken but he wanted to run. I asked him how fast his car was before I ever told him my first time, he said 11 second car... I laughed inside a little as I told him my first pass (first ever!!!) was 12 seconds. He finally ran but his brakes could not hold him at the line so he red lighted.

It was time to go home with the top down and warm sun still shining... Success! I will return, with traction....

After weeks ow waiting 24hrs a day for a opening in the curtains and though long distance spy photography we are able to catch this rising star at White Diamond Terrier code name Emily, going through her nightly ritual of play/training for her future career as a top ranked AKC conformation champion. Emily reportedly is just over 11 weeks old now and has a keene sence for toes without socks and abandon slipers...

It's been raining here for the past two days--and it means that Dash has to wear his raincoat. Here's our little trooper in his blue raincoat with his red harness over that--he's not too sure about his garb, but he actually trotted along very happily in the rain when we went out, and the front panel of the raincoat protected his front bib area and furnishings from the mud--much less of a clean-up when we came back inside. Lil's raincoat is bubblegum pink!

Hi Chris,

Here are a few pictures of Lexi's Birth-day!! We started out with a trip to
Petsmart for new toys and some treats, she also got a "chuck it" to throw
her tennis balls with!! She is the fetching queen!! We then went for a
walk to the school field and she played till she dropped!! Lexi has not yet
enjoyed her "Birthday Cake", but the girls have her evening all planned
out!! I also included a few pictures of the girls by an apple tree and a
neat shot I took of an apple orchard, ready for picking! Beautiful

Emily was due for her nail trimming today and when I came home I found her outside of her whelping box nuzzled up on the carpet that had been exposed through her mother Sara's efforts to make it happen.

I decided it was time to bring her out and let her play in the living room, WOW what a mover. This easily explains finding her outside of her warm comfy whelping box, she crawled right out.

At just over 2 weeks old Emily is almost 12oz. which is a far cry from her slender beginnings. Emily is now a very healthy eater and her Mother Sara has come around to understand her responsibilities.

My girl, Champion White Diamonds Sweet Sara has just been award the title of #1 owner/breeder handled West Highland White Terrier in the NATION!!! That's right, the NATION!

I was very excited to receive this news as you can imagine. Sara and I did a great deal of winning to get to her championship title at an unheard of one year of age. She took five Best of Breeds and four major points finishing in no time.

Now, the important stuff. As you can see Sara has her very first puppy Emily at just a week of age. Motherhood has not been a easy adjustment for Sara but things are getting better daily.

Keep them in your prayers and check back for new picture of Emily as she grows up...

Great turnout for the parade! We had 13 proud dogs and lots of smiling owners and friends. I was sorry that Bridget (who is 15 and got carried through the parade) was not in the photo because she may not be with us next year. Milo is enjoying another beautiful, BC summer with our family. He's been cottaging the last week and enjoying swimming, chasing Canadian geese and most recently, has taken up fishing. He can't get enough. His official job is now to put throw backs, back into the lake. Check out the video of him and a squaw fish taken last night.

These two little monsters... uhhh lovely puppies are owned by Phil and Michelle in Kirkland Washington. There is obvious beauty here provided by there parents and hopefully we may see them in the show ring sometime in the future. Teddy, the Westie was the smallest girl from a litter of four. Tug was a litter of one. Obviously these two look for trouble averywhere they go, as they have been attending obedience.. or defience class there manors should improve for there owners but I am sure it doesnt keep them from chasing each other around the house and at all hours of the evening...

Great Western Terrier Association is an annual event sponsored by the AKC in Long Beach California in a the beautiful settling of Queen Mary Park...

It was a tuff two days competing against the #3 Norwich Terrier in the country. Dash gave it his all both days but having to settle for Select placements both days. Select is a new placement award catagory the AKC has come up with to get more champion dogs to be shown past the championship status's.

Here is a recent picture. We are entered in the earthdog trial in Kent at the beginning of July. He is much more intense than he was at 6 months so beware the rat!

He continues to be my best buddy!

Dash's winning ways continue at the Spokane Washington/Cour D Alene AKC conformation dog shows. Shown here with judge Ed Haas posing for our Group 2 picture and narrowly loosing to the #1 Terrier in the nation Dash has been able to retain his #9 National Breed raking with with a limited amount of appearances. Dash's owners and I are very happy with his placements so far and hope for many more in upcoming events.

Tuggy will be welcomed into his new home by Phil who is shown here and his wife Michelle who is home in Kirkland with Tuggys new best buddy Teddy. Teddy (if you scroll back a page or so) was delivered by myself to the Moore household about a month ago. We look forward to all the updates on there new family members and there should be a ton of them...

Dash takes Group 2 in CDA Idaho!

Here are a few EARLY pictures from Dash's adventure at the Spokane/CDA cluster last weekend. Before this weekend Dash was nationally ranked number 7 and 9 for his breed in two different polls. After our weekend of 4 Best of Breeds including this Group 2 placement losing to the number 1 ranked Terrier "IN THE NATION" dash has added almost 150 more dogs defeated to his record which should move him up considerably in the National rankings. Dash and I will be attending the National Terrier specialty (Great Western)in Long Beach California in a few weeks, the Eukanuba Invitational in Orlando Florida in December and in February of 2012 the Westminster Kennel Club show!

Izzy speeds into her AKC Champion conformation title....

Let me introduce you to Izzy, owned by my clients Vicki and Ron Fulton of Yakima Washington. Izzy is quickly on her way to her AKC conformation title. A few weeks ago we picked up her two required major points in Lewiston Idaho, last weekend in Spokane and CDA Idaho we pick up 3 single points and then this weekend in Yakima Washington Izzy received two Best of Breed placements for a few more points. Along with two Best of Winner placements for 2 points from September at the Richland Washington Kennel Club show Izzy only needs two points to finish her Conformation title!

Her owners are very happy with our results... hehe

Lucy settling in...

I thought these photos would amuse you; I caught all three of our dogs taking a nap this afternoon. On to a Lucy update!

Little Lucy is finding her place in our household, and growing every day. Yesterday, she learned to go down stairs, and that was a big milestone, as we have a 3-story house on the side of a hill.

She'd been bounding UP the stairs quite happily for several weeks, but was hesitant to go down them. Big Sister Dicksie fixed that quite simply: she took off from our lower deck to chase some squirrels. Lucy barreled down the stairs after her--and Steve and I did a high five from the deck. No more carrying a puppy downstairs!

Lucy has started her S.T.A.R. Puppy training classes. She's easily the most obstreperous pupil in the class; our teacher is very good-natured about it, reassuring the other puppy owners that "This is perfectly natural behavior for a Westie puppy!" Meanwhile, the owner of the nice, big, relaxed Golden Retriever looks at Lucy with unbelieving eyes, amazed that such a little pup can create so much noisy havoc! But Lucy is a good learner, and is trying hard to master her new skills like "sit", "stay", and "leave it!"

At home, Lucy has settled into our household routine. She's sleeping through the night, enjoys her daily walks with Dicksie, and has great fun bounding all over her two older sisters in outbursts of puppy energy. The older dogs are not amused, but Lucy isn't fazed by their growls and barks. Bounce! She did it again!

Lucy tags along behind Dicksie almost constantly. Lucy isn't quite sure WHY Dicksie is barking at those furry things up in the tree, but she wants to be there to check it out, all the same. It is just adorable to see the two of them trotting all over the backyard together.

Anyway, here is a rare moment: an afternoon nap. Lucy was the only one of the three who woke up when the camera flashed--but she still looks sleepy.

Milo looking his best!

Hi Chris.

hope all is well.
last weekend was the kelowna westie walk.
we had milo groomed, and tried to let his hair grow out so he'd look his best.
to make a long story short, the kids were too exhausted and bailed on the walk at the last minute.
We're left with a very handsome dog that likes to mountain bike, hike and run and is a mud magnet.
He's back at the groomers right now getting his summer shave.

Speedy resides in Kirkland Washington woth her owners Phil and Michelle Moore. I happened to be a little early missing Phil but Michelle was very excited to welcome Teddy into there home. From what I here so far she has lived up to her name quite well...hehe GO SPEEDY~!

The little 4 week old Norwich puppy is Tug, he still has some growing up to do but he will be joining Teddy in the Moore household when he is old enough.

If Tug is not a red in color puppy I don't know what color this is... Tug is a very chubby puppy as you may be able to tell. His mother Zoe has not intention of letting this boy go without any food what so ever. He is still crawling around on his front legs but pushing with is back legs. At some point when he comes off mom he will loose a little weight and get up on all 4's!

Tug is 3 weeks old now.

The Ewer's are a local couple who chose a White Diamond Terrier puppy years ago and felt it was time for an addition... Dicksie... not so sure. If you scroll back a few pages on my blog you will see the lifestyle Dixie leads.

Here is today's email from Luci's (the name of there noew puppy)owners.

We did well, Chris. Crying was as expected, but with regular potty breaks, Lucy got a good night's sleep.

Older dogs are ABSOLUTELY having an adjustment crisis. As in, Dicksie has just marked every dog bed with urine--while Steve and I are looking right at her.

After a firm "No!" and some time outside, she got a nice 5-minute tummy rub. Poor thing. Must be hard to feel de-throned after so many years as the baby.

By now your wondering if I am insane... Two litters at the same time and a full times job. It's no problem with my very diligent pet sitter Stephanie. She is awesome at taking care of everyone while I am away.

Getting big huh? Had to pull out the slippers to start paly with them as they are turning into toe and foot hunters with razor sharp teeth!

Tug is finally born!

With great anticipation.... and a C-section Tug was finally born last night. Being a singleton puppy I am sure and as you see here Zoe will spoil him rotten! She is obviously giving me the eye here with a warning I am too close with a device she is not fond of. If you look really close you will see Tug tucked away.

After great consideration and 9 months of work I decided Luci in the sky with "Diamonds" was not what I am looking for in a great show dog so very shortly after that she was snapped up by Nelson's from Montana. Being previous Westie owners they knew exactly what to expect. Luci warmed right up to them instantly and was happy to go home this morning.

Shown here winning and finishing her AKC conformation title at the Great Western Terrier Association in Long Beach California is my girl Zoe. Zoe was bred by Karen Whalen of Unique Kennels in Phoenix Arizona. She was bred to my champion Alec who was also bred by Karen and I have just found out she is 30 day into her pregnancy. This will be her first litter of puppies and we are all very excited.

Look for future updates to come later as she progresses along.

As you can see here at 2 weeks of age the puppies eyes are starting to open and they are starting to get a little chatty with an occasional growl which is pretty cute. The puppy with the pink nose with black spots is just a little slow to get the black nose you are use to seeing.

The next pictures that you will see everyone should just about have there eyes open!

Judging AKC B match in Yakima Washington

I was invited to judge an AKC sanctioned B match in Yakima Washington again for 2011 which is now the 4th match I have officially judged, slowly but surely on my way to attempt to acquire my AKC judging licence sometime in the future. The match was alot of fun as I was assigned to see the Toy group, Terrier group, Non Sporting group and Jr. Handlers as well, at the end of the morning judging Best In Match.

All the dogs were very nice and well presented by there respective handlers making it pretty difficult to pick the winner at the end of the day. The winner at the end of the day was an Afghan Hound that moved very well with the limited amount of space we had to work with. We had a nice snack at the end of the match and then it was time to leave for home...

They have decided they are ready for a second Westie and have setteled on a puppy from haley's litter, who are doing very well at a week old thank you.

I was almost able to catch one of Haley's puppies on her back... This is a sign of confidence or well... just plain relaxation as the pad under the whelping area is heated. Look how much she has grown from the last picture. She is getting her pigment in and does need a nail trimming this weekend. All the puppies are doing really well. It's not easy sneaking in to get pictures so I do the best I can. I will have more time this weekend for a few group photo's.

Recently in Puyallup Washington and Portland Oregon (biggest AKC conformation event in the NW) Dash and I went BEST OF BREED twice with one Group 2 win, qualifing as Grand Champion for the Eukanuba Invitational In Orlando Florida in December.. which we will be attending.. Dash beat out the top Norwich Terriers in the Nation and receiving a ranking in his breed of number 2 in the Nation! We will be attending a few of the largest shows in the nation this year and hope to compete at teh Westminster Kennel Club show next year.

Haley and Hammish welcome 4 new puppy girls!

Thanks to Hammish, Haley had four very nice Westie puppies last night without complication. They were very quiet through the night and as you can imagine Haley is happy for the event to be over so she can relax a little. Everyone is feeding very well and seems to be gaining weight.

Hope you had an enjoyable Christmas!! We had a very enjoyable one and Lexi
was the star of the show opening her gifts, she went CRAZY!!! I think the
energy from the girls helped her out. Lexi, along with the girls were

& R and Lexi will be staying with my parents in Summerland and is looking

Dear Uncle Chris – I just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas and tell you about my very first snow day. We awoke the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to all of this wonderful, cold, and wet white stuff all over the place. Mom & Dad said it was something called ’snow’ and they let me romp and play in it for awhile. I really liked running and stopping very fast to see it fly up and around me. WOW! This white world is nothing unusual for my brother Gavin, but we usually miss it when we’re traveling in warmer climates. You’re a lucky boy, Gavin!

I’m also sending you a picture of me with my absolutely favorite toy, my wubba kong. When the liquid sunshine hits here a little too hard, I can always have fun and get my exercise playing fetch with my wubba. I can even shake it just like it’s a squirrel and usually do just that on each and every return trip. I really am one lucky little Westie.

Chris,

In week 2 Bart has become much more comfortable with our family and has adjusted well to the house. Here he is chilling on the couch with me.

We take 2-3 walks a day in our neighborhood and I've even hired a dog sitter to care for Bart when I have to be away. (Right now they are in the "getting to know you" stage.)

A Westie snow day in Kelowna Canada..

Hi Chris,

Remember us, your friends from Kelowna!!! Sorry it has been soooo long,
never a dull moment!! All is well here, the girls are great and enjoying
school and Lexi is enjoying the girls!! We started with snowy weather last
weekend and it has kept going. Today the girls and Lexi were playing in the
back yard and the snow was great for snowman making and for Lexi to collect
in her fur!! We had quite a laugh when her snow balls got so big that
playing fetch was more than she could handle. I have included some pictures
of the girls with Lexi and her "snowballs"!!

The Lttners are very nice local retired couple. John from Energy NW and Ellie a semi-retired school teach living in Richland Washington. They have had Westies before and John being a local board member of the animal rescue organization it was a natural placement. I know Molly will be a welcome addition to her new family...

well here are the pictures!! She did not have "cherry eye" after all. The Dr said it was an injury just above the cherry eye gland that caused the swelling. The surgery went well. The Dr still did everything she would have done if it was cherry eye. Due to the fact Harlen and I are so dedicated to these two little girls, she gave us a nice discount. Maddie must have injured herself without us knowing it. She does go at it with the dogs next door. They get on their side of the fence and our girls on our side and it is on. We always bring them in as soon as it starts. All I know is someway, somehow her eye got injured with no outside signs. Believe me we brush their teeth and I always clean out their eyes every day and never noticed a problem. It must have started inside, very deep, and then pushed the gland up and outside the eye. Cynthia Pierce and her daughter abbreviated there trip From Bainbridge Island Washington State to Los Angeles so they could retrieve there new puppy Bart. Bart took and instant liking to Cynthia and I know will be very happy.

After careful consideration I have decided not to keep and show Bart making him available as a pet puppy. I wanted to show him as he is very worthy but I really can't have another male dog in the house at this time. Bart has many wonderful characteristics of any Norwich Terrier. He is loving, loyal and a great lap dog!
